Wilder looking forward to Oxford United v Swindon clash

OXFORD United are looking forward to a derby next month after drawing Swindon Town in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The competition is usually low down on clubs’ priorities, but the meeting at the Kassam Stadium – which will take place in the week beginning September 3 – will be keenly anticipated.

The U’s beat Swindon 2-0 at home in March, completing a league double over their great rivals.

United boss Chris Wilder is already looking forward to another game against Paolo Di Canio’s side.

He said: “It’s a good one, it’s great for the supporters and hopefully will put a couple of quid in the coffers. “It’s one the players will look forward to, hopefully it’ll be a cracking atmosphere with no trouble.

“Paolo did unbelievably well last year, he was well backed and he’d be the first to admit that, but he’s had to manage that and they were worthy champions. “I’m sure they’ll go well this season as well, so it’s a good challenge for us and we’ll enjoy it.”
