ROB Dickie is looking to make the most of a 'mad situation' as the centre back prepares to work under his fifth manager this season.

The 22-year-old scored his first goal for Oxford United in their crucial 2-1 win at home to Peterborough United on Saturday.

He is settling in well with the U’s, having signed midway through an eventful campaign.

After spending pre-season under Jaap Stam at Reading, Dickie joined Danny Cowley’s Lincoln City on loan in August.

The defender was signed by Pep Clotet in January, but did not play before the Spaniard was sacked and Derek Fazackerley became the caretaker boss.

It began a saga which is unresolved more than eight weeks later, but the eventual announcement will bring another manager.

While it is an unusual situation, Dickie believes there is a bright side.

He said: “I’m getting my fair share of experience from all the different managers, aren’t I?

“I try to soak up all the good things from every manager and take it into my game.

“I feel like I’m doing that at the moment.

“I know that’s part and parcel of football.

“I know it’s a bit of a mad situation right now that I could be on my third manager here in two months. But whoever comes in I will work hard for them and the team.”

Today was seen as the most likely day for an appointment this week, but Fazackerley is due to again take the routine pre-match press conference, which has been scheduled for this morning.

While the lengthy process has the potential to be a distraction, Dickie is enjoying working under the caretaker boss and will be preparing for Sunday’s trip to Portsmouth as normal.

He said: “Faz is a brilliant coach, he’s got a good football mind.

“We’ll just keep focused and keep working hard, whatever happens in the next week.

“We know we can get a win.

“I think the club’s in good hands and I’m sure they’ll make the right appointment.”

Dickie had to wait more than a month before making his debut, but has been one of United’s best performers in recent games.

He said: “I never want to get too comfortable, I just need to keep playing how I have been.

“I do feel that with each game that goes by I’m gaining that little bit more confidence.”
