Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom confirms Simon Eastwood is on their wish-list in January.

Pep Clotet, Darryl Eales and Derek Fazackerley fly to Europe to watch a transfer target.

He said: "There have been no bids for anyone, that I know of.”

Clotet also refuses to comment on the link with Cameron Brannagan.

  • January 8: The Independent reports the U’s are on the brink of signing Cameron Brannagan from Liverpool. The highly-rated midfielder, 21, made nine appearances for the Premier League side in 2015/16, before spending the second half of last season on loan at Fleetwood Town, playing 14 times.
  • U's boss Pep Clotet hints a deal could be completed for an unnamed target this week: "We’re working a lot on not only bringing players who we think can help us in the future but we are analysing every option regarding loans that could be a possibility for us.

"I think this week could be a good one for that."

  • January 6: Pep Clotet responds to the Ledson speculation, saying he was unaware of any bid: “But for me anyway it’s the same mentality – I’m not thinking about players going out in the situation we’re in now.”
  • January 5: More than one national newspaper links Preston North End with a move for Ryan Ledson. The Sun reports a £500,000 bid has been submitted by the Sky Bet Championship club.

He said: “I was at Reading from a very young age and I’ve got a lot to thank them for, but I think it’s the right time for me to move on and take the next step in my career.

“I’m proud of my record and hopefully I can improve it here.”

  • January 1: Chairman Darryl Eales uses his programme notes to indicate there would be the resources for “three or four” additions and the club would be returning to a model which had worked well for them in the past.

He said: “The key imperative remains building for the long term and returning to a closer model that has served us well over the past three seasons.

“There will be renewed focus on youth and potential.”

  • December 28: Pep Clotet discusses his plans for the window: “If there are good options becoming available we will always consider it, but as I’ve told the club it has to be quality.

“The important thing is the talent is there – we will then analyse it case by case.”
