PEP Clotet is yet to make a decision on Kane Hemmings’s loan at Mansfield Town.
The season-long deal which saw the striker join the Sky Bet League Two club in August contains a recall clause in the middle of January.
Stags boss Steve Evans has made it clear this week he would like to keep the 25-year-old, whose four goals for the club have come in his last eight appearances.
United boss Clotet plans to speak with Evans before weighing up his options.
He said: “I would like to see what his plans are for the player and get some feedback. I will speak to Kane as well.
“It’s not something that is on my mind at this moment because I’m focused on a lot of games before January.
“Soon it will be time to assess what we will do.”
Clotet also confirmed United had not been contacted by Huddersfield Town about recalling Jack Payne next month.
He said: “I’m confident, but obviously it’s not up to us entirely.”
