DEREK Fazackerley has been fined by the Football Association for throwing a water bottle during Oxford United’s 4-1 win at Peterborough United.
The assistant head coach launched it in a moment of exuberance celebrating the visitors’ third goal on Saturday.
But it landed behind him in the stand and while it is not believed to have hit anyone, referee Tom Nield sent him off.
It was a first in Fazackerley’s coaching career and the U’s coach has indicated he is considering an appeal.
He said: “I have heard something and they will be hearing from me. It’s just a fine.
“I’ll maybe be contesting it. I can’t say too much, but we’ll see how it goes.
“I’ll speak with them (the FA) and see where we go with it.”
Fazackerley has until Friday to reply, at which point the FA have three days to respond.
