OXFORD United have received a double fitness boost this week, with Marvin Johnson and Wes Thomas returning to training.

Johnson, who has been linked with a move away this month, missed last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Scunthorpe United after reporting a tight hamstring.

Thomas came off in the game with a similar issue in one of his thighs.

But U's boss Pep Clotet is optimistic both will be able to play in Saturday's Sky Bet League One game at home to Shrewsbury Town.

He said: "Marvin has been back in training since Tuesday, as normal.

"He will be available (for Saturday). Obviously we have to see how he’s been training and analyse how the players how played last Saturday performed.

"Wes had a bit of a niggle in the (Scuthorpe) game, that’s why we had to sub him.

"But it looks like the recovery has been good. He’s spent the first part of the week doing some treatment and he’s back in training today and then we’ll decide."
