RYAN Ledson is so excited about the beginning of the new football season that the Oxford United midfielder will need to take a sleeping tablet tonight.
The 19-year-old is due to start in the U’s opening game of the Sky Bet League One campaign at Oldham Athletic tomorrow.
Having missed the final three weeks of last season with a knee problem, it will be Ledson’s first competitive game for four months.
The former Everton trainee says he is one of several players in the squad who regularly needs help to guarantee a good night’s sleep – and will definitely require one this evening.
He said: “I will take a sleeping tablet because I just love playing.
“There are a few of us who do it just to make sure we get a good night’s sleep.
“You can’t beat getting out there at the start of the season.
“After so many weeks out, especially with me and my knee, I just can’t wait to get back playing a competitive game again.”
