LIAM Sercombe appears to be edging closer to an exit from Oxford United after several clubs showed an interest in signing the out-of-favour midfielder.
The U’s have activated a clause in his contract to cover next season, but boss Michael Appleton has admitted it was done purely to ensure they receive a fee for the 27-year-old.
Sercombe has made 101 appearances, scoring 22 goals, since joining from Exeter City two years ago.
But he was frozen out in the final month of the season for unspecified disciplinary reasons, which left United looking to cash in.
After approving multiple requests from interested clubs, Appleton believes an incoming bid is imminent.
He said: “We’ve had quite a few enquiries regarding him.
“No-one has made an offer yet, but I’m expecting one club to shortly.
“We’ve had a lot of people enquire about whether he’s available.
“Obviously the answer is yes, but there will be a fee involved.”
