OXFORD United will look to pile the pressure on bottom side Coventry City tonight as they attempt to back up Saturday’s success.

Michael Appleton’s side have won back-to-back games in Sky Bet League One only once this season, but the 1-0 victory against Bradford City offers them an opportunity tonight.

Coventry prop up the division and go into the clash at the Ricoh Arena on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic.

Ryan Taylor knows the U’s need to do all they can to pick up where they left off against the Bantams.

The forward said: “We need to start showing some consistency and go on a good run of results – that’s how we’ll get up the league.

“There’s no point in beating Bradford if we’re not going to get anything from the game at Coventry.

“There will be extra pressure on them so they will be fighting harder.

“Their confidence will surely be a bit lower and ours will be high after Saturday.

“It will be a tough game – we know that – but we’ll be ready to go.”

It is United’s first meeting with Coventry since 1988 and all 1,400 tickets sent in their initial allocation have sold out.

More are available to buy on the night, ensuring the visitors will be well backed again.

Centre back Chey Dunkley said: “The fans have been tremendous coming out in every single game home and away.

“It always helps the lads on the pitch and creates an atmosphere for us.”

Liam Sercombe could return to the squad after missing the Bradford win with a groin problem, but striker Wes Thomas is out.

Appleton said: “Wes keeps picking up an issue with his calf.

“We won’t risk him for the next game and probably the one at the weekend (Port Vale).”

Coventry have doubts over Jordan Willis and Lewis Page, who came off with knocks at Charlton.
