PETERBOROUGH United will not be short of confidence when they arrive at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow following an eye-opening midweek result.

Grant McCann’s side thrashed a highly-fancied Millwall side 5-1 at London Road, with summer signing Gwion Edwards scoring twice.

The Posh boss then travelled north to scout the U’s 24 hours later, seeing them lose 2-0 at Fleetwood Town.

Despite the result, McCann saw reasons for the visitors to be wary.

He said: “Oxford are a good side.

“I went to watch them at Fleetwood and although they were beaten on the night, you could see the problems they can cause.

“They are a good side, particularly at home, they have a decent fanbase and it is a big pitch.

“We go there with confidence, though, after the win over Millwall and are looking forward to it.”

Appleton rates Millwall as one of the strongest sides in Sky Bet League One, so is well aware his side need to find an improvement.

He said: “They will be coming to the Kassam full of confidence, against a side in us who are a little bit short on confidence.

“It’s going to be a big test for the players, they will have to stand up and be counted."
