JAMES Roberts scored as a youthful Oxford United side drew 1-1 with Bath in a pre-season friendly.

After a goalless first half, the 20-year-old fired the U's ahead on 66 minutes at Twerton Park.

But Andy Watkins levelled for the hosts as the spoils were shared in Somerset.

Robbie Cundy captained a United side which did not include a player over the age of 21.

Roberts had the ball in the back of the net on ten minutes, but he was denied by the offside flag.

At the other end, goalkeeper Jack Stevens pulled off a magnificent save to keep out Jack Batten's headed effort.

Jonny Giles then tried his luck from 25 yards, but Bath keeper Steve Phillips was equal to it as the first half ended goalless.

Stuart Fleetwood's free-kick tested Stevens after the break.

But it was the U's who opened the scoring on 66 minutes when Roberts netted from a tight angle.

Their lead did not last long, though, as 13 minutes from time Watkins levelled for the hosts.
