RONNIE Moore rued Oxford United's ability to capitalise on one lapse in concentration which saw his Hartlepool United side lose 1-0 at Victoria Park.

The home side were on top for much of the first hour, but could not make it count.

Instead, United broke quickly in the 70th minute to claim the only goal of the game when Danny Hylton met Alex MacDonald's cross.

Moore was pleased with his team's display and felt there was little in the game between Pools and United, who went top of Sky Bet League Two as a result.

He said: “In the first half I thought we were as good as we have been since I have been here (December 2014).

“We tried to play out from the back, we moved the ball quickly and the only thing missing from our game during the whole 90 minutes was a goal.

“When you’re playing someone at the top of the league, one lapse in concentration can hurt you and that’s what has happened – it was our corner and they’ve counter-attacked and got in too easy.

“We had the best chance of the game at 0-0.

"It was a fantastic opportunity for Mikael (Mandron) and it really should have ended up in the back of the net.

“To come off the pitch with nothing after having worked their socks off is harsh but when you consider they’re top of the league you tell me what the difference was between the teams? I was proud of them.”
