DANNY Rose has praised Liam Sercombe’s impact since the midfielder signed for Oxford United this summer.

The pair played alongside each other in the 2-0 win at Eastleigh last weekend.

They are in line to start again when the U’s face Coventry City at Nuneaton Town’s Liberty Way tomorrow, and Rose has been impressed with the 25-year-old, who joined after leaving Exeter City in May.

He said: “I think the recruitment has been shrewd.

“Sercs brings another dimension to the midfield – he likes to bomb on and has a lot of quality.

“I think we both try and be positive with the ball, as much as you can be and take risks when it’s necessary.”

The game against Coventry is United’s last friendly in pre-season.

After fixtures against strong non-league sides Woking and Eastleigh, the clash with a League One outfit is expected to provide Michael Appleton’s men with their toughest challenge.

Rose said: “Playing a team from a higher league you’d think they will try to dominate possession, but it is our game plan as well.

“It will be interesting to see how it pans out.”
