JAMES Roberts was among the Oxford United players to get 90 minutes as a youthful development side lost 1-0 at Brentford.

The striker was left out of the first team squad for the goalless draw with York City on Easter Monday, but gained useful game time in the behind-closed-doors friendly.

Callum O’Dowda, Chey Dunkley, Sam Long and Josh Ashby also played in a side which included triallists in goal and at centre half.

It was an unnamed triallist for the home side who scored the only goal of the game, on 21 minutes.

Mickey Lewis, United’s first team coach, said: “We created a lot of chances and were a bit unlucky not to score.

“There were occasions when the final ball was just missing but that is picking holes in what was a very good display.”

  •  TICKETS for United's trip to AFC Wimbledon are set to sell out the initial allocation before the weekend.

About 750 have been sold for Saturday’s clash, leaving only 200 for the terrace at Kingsmeadow.

  • OXFORD United's annual awards evening will be held at the Kassam Stadium on Wednesday, April 29.
