DAVE Kitson is convinced Callum O’Dowda has a big future after seeing the way the youngster dealt with a miss last weekend.

The winger headed wide from close range at Plymouth Argyle, in what was only his second league start.

But Kitson was hugely impressed with the way O’Dowda, who turns 19 next week, shrugged it off as he played a key role in the 2-0 win.

The veteran said: “He should have scored, but actually he got better after that.

“It seemed to spur him on and you don't see that a lot in kids.

“I don’t think it’s any secret in how highly I rate Callum. I think he's a fantastic asset for this club and I think he will be a fantastic player for us.

“He just reminds so much of the top players.

“Everybody misses, everybody gives the ball away, but it's how you react and his temperament is outstanding.

“He never gets above himself and he has the talent to win matches on his own and the selflessness to contribute to team performances as well.”
