CLACTON Cricket Club may be about to benefit from the explosive talent of an Australian Test player.
The Seasiders have signed Jason Hughes and there is a chance his brother – top-order Test batsman Phil – could make sporadic appearances for the Seasiders.
Phil will be spending the summer in England for the eagerly-awaited Ashes.
But if he is made available by his country between the matches, he could grace Clacton’s line-up in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.
“There’s a chance he may play for us,” revealed Seasiders skipper Ben France, who is preparing his side for Saturday’s opening match of the season at Great Witchingham.
