A team from Appleton Primary School won two titles at the regional finals of the English Schools’ Swimming Association Primary relay competition in Southampton.
Appleton’s squad of Rhian Casey, Emily Ford, Ella Lovibond, Zoe Lovibond and Leonie Watson triumphed in the freestyle and the mixed stroke relays for small schools.
They will now go on to the national finals in Sheffield on Saturday, June 16.
The Appleton team – all members of Abingdon Vale SC – were trained by parent Amanda Ford, who also coaches at the club.
Ladygrove Park School, Didcot, also fared well.
Their boys team of Louie Grindey, Samuel Slade, Benj Beard and Dan Hall, who train at Didcot Barramundi, beat their qualifying time by two seconds.
However, Ladygrove just missed out on a place in the final.
