BOXING: Flynn flying high

Oxford's Jordan Flynn recorded a second-round stoppage over Kent’s Sam Kennit in the National ABA Junior Championships quarter-finals at Camberley.

The 16-year-old, who boxes for Repton ABC in London, outclassed his opponent from the Chatham-based St Mary's club in the class four 57kg bout.

After winning the first round by 12 points to three, Flynn forced his opponent to take a standing count after 50 seconds of the second round.

When, shortly afterwards, Kennit, who had won 14 of his 16 previous fights, was forced to take another standing count, the referee stopped the contest.

Flynn now goes forward to the semi-finals at Haslemere, Surrey, on Sunday when he will fight Hoddesdon’s Daniel Khan.
