OXFORD City Stars are hoping to complete the signing of a new import, Cameron Birrell, ahead of this weekend’'s South Division 1 double-header against Cardiff Devils and Slough Jets in the English National League.

Birrell, a South African forward who has played in Canada, will be in the line-up for both games, provided the necessary paperwork goes through.

Stars, who are at full strength, travel to Wales play the Cardiff Devils tonight (7pm) and then host the return battle against Slough Jets tomorrow (6pm).

Player coach Ken Forshee, said: “The signing of a new import will allow me to concentrate solely on coaching duties and I believe this will help the team.

“We are looking to have a big weekend and get four points.

“Cardiff are a very good team at their home and it will be tough.

“Tomorrow, we will be looking to return the favour against Slough as they beat us in the first game of the season.”

Oxford squad: Douglas, Gore, Lee, Oliver, White, Cox, Wojciak, Florey, Smith, Forshee, Russell , Taylor, Endicott, Fiddes, Featherstone, Hedges, Elliott, Francis-Barrie, Birrell (pending signing).
