It was a great night for Banbury as all three of the town’s teams won handsomely in the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries.

Leading the way in Division 1 were Banbury Central A, who stormed to a 51/2-1/2 home win over Bicester.

Will Campion’s four of Lee Young, Nigel Galletly and Andy Wilkin were in terrific form with a 38-13 win.

Central climb into second place above Carterton, who did not play.

Division 2 leaders Banbury Chestnuts enjoyed a 51/2-1/2 victory at bottom club Woodstock.

And Banbury Central B triumphed 51/2-1/2 at South Oxford B.

Back in Division 1, leaders Headington A cruised to a 6-0 win at Oxford City & County A to open up a seven-point gap at the top.

Blackbird Leys are the new Divisiion 3 leaders following a 5-1 victory at Headington B.

There were good wins for Roy Brain, Gordon Roper and Mick Major.

Watlington are half a point behind after a 51/2-1/2 home win over local rivals Thame.

Les Westcott’s four prevented a whitewash by fighting back from 16-0 down to draw 22-22 against Henry Franklin.

Division 4 leaders Charlbury notched up the highest score of the season with a 121-63 victory in a 5-1 win at Oxford University Press.

Nigel Siford’s four also picked up the biggest rink win of the night with a 38-9 victory.

Keith Field’s rink shone with a 31-5 win in Chipping Norton’s 4-2 victory at Hanborough.
