OXFORDSHIRE Under 17s broke their duck in the Shires League with a 14-6 victory over Berkshire at Bartholemew School, Eynsham.
The victory, which came after two defeats, saw Oxon’s boys lead the way with a perfect singles and doubles record.
Oxfordshire led 5-3 after the singles, with Jade Braithwaite their only girl winner in a 13-21, 21-15, 21-19 success.
Four straight mixed doubles wins made it 9-3, while the pairings of David Richardson and Jack Smith, plus Sam Stroudley and Jamie Blair won all four boys’ doubles.
Berkshire took the girls’ doubles 3-1, Julia Froud and Lucy Fisk earning Oxon’s success.
- TWINS Imogen and Edith Langford, from Abingdon, claimed the girls’ doubles gold medal in the Under 15 Badminton England bronze tournament at Winchester.
They beat Dorset’s Abbie Joliffe and Amy Tappin 21-18 in the final and also bagged bronze medals in the singles.
At the same tournament, Faringdon duo David Thomas and Ben Egginton won bronze medals in the boys’ singles.
Egginton also won a silver in the boys doubles’ with Lee Houselander (Bucks).
- BEN Roberts, of Brize Norton, won the silver medal at the under 13 silver grade tournament in Winchester.
The Henry Box School pupil beat Sussex’s Julian Cheung in the semis, before losing out to Tom Frisby, of Hampshire.
- Oxford’s Jeremy Lu won a singles bronze medal in the Surrey Under 11 event.
