Three 180s by Littlemore British Legion’s Nick Baldwin was not enough to halt leaders Butcher’s Arms in Winter League Section 1.
Baldwin defeated reigning summer and winter league singles champion Ian Moss with the help of three stunning maximums, but it proved their only success in an 8-1 defeat.
Ladies Premier Section leaders Florence Park cc a consolidated their place at the top with a 7-2 victory at Vikings SC A.
Tina Hamilton, Jo Gleed, Carol Harwood and Angie Pointin put them 4-0 up before Pauline Bloomfield pulled one back.
The leaders restored their four-game advantage through Clare Bywaters and Florence Park went on to win the pairs 2-1.
Section 1 leaders Blackbird Bar saw off strugglers Berinsfield CC B 6-3, whose singles wins came from Katie Moore and Phil Young.
The early pacesetters in Section 2, Berinsfield CC A, pipped Donnington CC A 5-4.
Nina Chewings, Mel Jones, Jeanette Bowler and Di O’Neill won their singles for the home side, with Ann Marks and Elaine Hutchinson replying for Donnington, who captured the pairs 2-1.
Section 3 leaders Donnington CC B suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost 6-3 to the visiting Nuffield Lounge A, allowing Red Lion to take full advantage with a 7-2 win at Nuffield Lounge B.
