The Kennet at Burghfield, which I fish regularly, has been proving hard lately with very few barbel coming to the net, although some chub are being caught, writes ANDY WEBBER.
I fished the top weirpool last Monday and a swim downstream on Wednesday, catching chub from both, the best weighing 5.11.0.
I have been using a bait dropper to deposit a hemp/caster mix on the bottom and then fishing maggot on a size 12 hook over the top, but the barbel are proving elusive.
