THERE will be a new men’s singles winner in the 92nd ODDA Winter League finals at Cowley Workers Social Club on Friday.

The contest sees Geordie Grant (Cowley Workers) take on fellow first-time finalist Andrew Quinn, from Queens Head.

Grant is an established Oxfordshire player, while Quinn broke into the county team this season after an impressive run in the Super League.

The ladies’ singles final sees Carol Smith (Witney Snooker Club) trying to retain the title she won in the 2016/17 season.

She takes on first-time finalist Caroline Caldicutt (Red Lion, Cassington), who has shown impressive form in the league this season.

In the men’s pairs final, Joe Palmer and Dave Fowler, from Premier Section champions Kidlington Green, take on Mark Breakspear and Simon Smith, from Abingdon United SC.

Blackbird Bar duo of Chris and Sharon Thompson play in their sixth ladies’ pairs final against Carol Smith and Greta Britnell, of Witney Snooker Club.

The men’s seven-a-side pits Premier side Abingdon United SC against underdogs Littlemore Rugby Club, from Section 2.

The ladies’ final is a local derby between Blackbird Bar and neighbours Blackbird Leys Bowls Club.

The mixed pairs decider will see Kidlington Football Club’s Rob Smith and Katrina Blackman meet the Blackbird Leys Bowls Club pairing of Alan Hunter and Debbie Stevens.

The finals start at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, entries for the ODDA Summer League’s competitions must be submitted by this Saturday.
