ANDY Benwell was a runaway winner in the third round of the Ace Tackle and Bait Oxford Carp League on Red Kite Lake at Oakfield Fishery.
The Kidlington angler’s net of carp, weighing 126lb 4oz 0drms, was more than double the next highest tally.
He employed mainly shallow and mugging tactics, fishing long pole with maggot hookbait.
The runner-up – and the man responsible for introducing the winner to fishing, was stalwart Les Hill (Bicester), with 59.4.0 of mainly carp caught on maggots.
Third place – with the best weight from the cafe bank – went to Paul Dann with 49.10.0, pipping fellow Didcot angler Dave Scott (47.4.0). Jez Reid (Benson) took the last of the frame places with 46.12.0.
Dann still has a seven-point lead at the head of the standings
