CHRIS Jenkins was in spectacular form, clanging off 16 dolls in Gladiator A’s 2-1 win at Swan B, writes ANDY BEAL.

In a high-scoring Premier/Section 1 game which produced 165 dolls, two sixes and nine fives, Swan could only set 22 in the opening leg.

Gladiators struggled in reply and left anchor man Kevin Giles needing three to win which he achieved with his final stick.

Gladiators amassed a whopping 32 in the second leg, and after a steady response, Swan still needed 20 from their last four men. They gave it a good go, but fell two short.

They did, however, find their range from the start in the final leg, setting 33.

Gladiators could only manage 28 in reply, but had done enough for victory with Jenkins (5-6-5) their star man.

John Horton hit a baker’s dozen for Gladiators (4-5-4), while Jason Coates (3-5-6) and Daryal Simpson (3-5-5) starred for Swan.

Three Pigeons left Woodman with a hard-fought 2-1 win, despite falling behind.

A 20-24, 25-21, 33-25 success saw Martin Seacole top dog with 13 dolls (3-4-6).

Rob Bradford produced a superbly-consistent display with 5-5-5 as Black Prince claimed another 3-0 win, this time at home to George A.

A one-sided clash saw the hosts pick up another maximum points haul with a 27-18, 28-23, 26-22 success.

Bradford’s 15 was the outstanding performance, but he received great support from teammate Graham Wilsdon, who chipped in with 13 (4-5-4).

Ray Townsend (3-5-5) starred as Six Bells E just got the better of hosts Chequers C 24-25, 25-23, 22-20.

In Section 2, Bullnose A’s Jonny McMahon was the only player to hit double figures in their clash away at Florence Park A.

His 14 dolls (3-6-5) helped the Bullnose to a 3-0 win with leg scores of 19-14, 25-14, 18-17.

Gladiators B got the better of Red Lion A Yarnton 2-1, with Chris Webb (4-5-5) top-scoring.

It was a case of unlucky 13 for Tiddington Cricket Club’s Pete Shepherd as he clanged off a baker’s dozen (4-5-4), but could not save his side from a 2-1 defeat at Queens Head B.

Steve Ward’s 13 dolls (5-4-4), however, was enough for Six Bells D Kidlington to secure a 2-1 home win against Garsington Sports B.

In Section 3, Masons A got off to the perfect start at Six Bells B Kidlington when winning the opening leg 17-15.

They looked like taking the match, but Bells anchor man Seamus O’Malley clanged off the four dolls needed to win the second leg 18-17, before the Kidlington side went on to take the decider.

In Section 6, Steve Tooke’s 13 dolls (5-5-3) helped Catherine Wheel B win 2-1 at Littlemore British Legion B with leg scores of 17-13, 19-13, 15-17.

Anchor man Glyn Millard came to Vikings Sports D’s rescue in the first two legs of their 3-0 win over Prince Of Wales.

Millard took the opening leg to three sticks, which Vikings won, before then hitting the required dolls to take the second.
