MASONS Arms caused a major shock when they beat champions Oracle in the Oxford & District League’s KO Cup.
The underdogs won 4-2 in their Group A semi-final.
They took a 3-0 lead thanks to wins from Alan Lowe over Pauline Withey, Dave Rose, who beat Ian Gordon, and Chris Bateman (5,030).
Mark Trafford (10,760) pulled one back for Oracle, who then took the first pairs.
In a nail-biting decider, Bateman and Murphy came up trumps against Trafford and Brian Rose to take the match 4-2.
Masons will now play Democrats, who beat Donnington 4-2.
In Group B, Headington Con Club went through 3-3 on aggregate against Gladiators Club A.
Dave Jarman and Keith Gardner (5,860) put Glads 2-0 up before Keith Hollis and Roger Tomlin (4,320) levelled.
Glads took the first pairs before Hollis scored a break of 9,890 in the second to put Headington into the final against Berinsfield who beat Gladiators B 4-2.
