A BRILLIANT hat-trick from Floor Timmer helped Oxford Ladies to reach a national final on Sunday.

Timmer’s treble led her side to a 4-1 success at home to Norwich in the semi-final of the England Tier 2 competition.

They will now face East Grinstead 2nd in the final at Lee Valley on Sunday, May 5.

The hosts took the lead after only five minutes, Timmer netting after good play from Olivia Strickland.

The striker fired home her second from the edge of the D after 20 minutes.

Norwich pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 at half-time.

Early in the second half, great play by Ruth Bedford earned Oxford a penalty corner, which Strickland touched in at the far post to make it 3-1.

Ten minutes later, Timmer got her hat-trick from another strike from a corner.

Home keeper Louise Kay had to be sharp to see off some late chances from the visitors before the final whistle.

Oxford’s men were not so lucky, suffering a 2-0 defeat away to Blackheath & Elthamians in their Tier 2 England Cup semi-final.

But they conceded two goals in the last five minutes to miss their chance of playing in a national final.

The visitors went ahead thanks to an individual effort from Lucy Reading into the bottom corner of the goal.

In the closing stages, Witney went for broke and Sunny Wallis burst into the D and fired home an unstoppable shot to give Witney a memorable victory.

Fielding a depleted team, Witney’s men finished with a 5-2 defeat away to Banbury 2nd to end all chances of promotion from South League Regional 2.
