IT was a great day for Blackbird Leys boxers with seven wins out of 11 in the club’s annual open show.

Emily Kenny got the host club off to a winning start with a unanimous points victory over Laurel Beer (Posiedon ABC).

Southpaw Ivor Price then produced a sharp display to win all three rounds against Reece Wilder (Jubilee ABC).

After Martin Gurasvili suffered his first defeat against the more experienced Dillon Martin (Ring ABC), Ajay Desmond got Blackbird Leys back to winning ways with a unanimous points decision over Jubilee’s Jake Wilder.

There was a similar victory for the hosts’ Farham Karim against Kai Gilbert (Evolve).

It was a much closer fight for Kieran Clarke, who nicked a split decision against Connor Brazil (March ABC) and also won junior boxer of the day award.

Southpaw Dane Simmonds went down on points to Curtis Tarrant (Legacy ABC), before clubmate Joe Gaul dominated his bout against Toby Summerhayes (The Factory ABC), winning a unanimous decision.

Blackbird Leys’s Daniils Bogatirjovs lost a close fight against Taylor Sheeran (The Ring ABC).

The senior performance of the day came from Joshua Olawole, who outpointed Kyle Goodhall, from Cheltenham.

In last bout of the day, Daniel Robinson was caught cold by a short left hook from Courtney Frimpong (Evolve Academy) and the fight was stopped in the first round.
