BELL Inn recorded a stunning 8-1 victory at home to leaders Chequers Inn A to leapfrog into top spot in Men’s Division 2 of the Cowley Workers ODDA Winter League.

Wins from Simon Davison, Les Radford, Scott Bennett and Brian Grant saw Bell race into a 4-0 lead.

Chequers pulled one back when Howard Cannon beat George Brewis – despite Brewis hitting a brilliant 150 finish.

But Simon Key clinched victory for the Bell, who took the doubles 3-0.

George Bar B came from 2-0 down to scrape in 5-4 at home to Littlemore Rugby Club A.

Matty Brain and Bob Brown put Littlemore ahead, but the hosts fought back to level with wins from Mark Laverack and Andy Buckingham.

Tony Allday overcame Darren Simons, despite a 154 finish from Simons, to put the visitors ahead again before Andrew Ray made it 3-3.

But George took the pairs 2-1 to edge home.

What a difference a week makes. Seven days after Cricketers Arms C beat their A team 7-2, the scoreline was reversed as the A team gained their revenge.

Florence Park CC A, the unbeaten Ladies’ Premier League leaders, were given a fright when trailing 3-2 to their Section 1 B team.

Jackie Merritt, Sue Simmonds and Lydia Harper put the B team ahead.

However, the A team’s Clare Bywaters won the last singles, hitting a brilliant 130 finish (60-20-50), and they took the pairs 3-0.
