CITY of Oxford’s head coach Amanda Booth is going with Team England to this year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Booth’s selection is also part of an initiative from the Commonwealth Games Federation in partnership with Griffith University, who have initiated a women’s coach internship programme.

The aim of the scheme is to provide more opportunities to fully integrate women into the coaching teams for the Gold Coast games.

Booth said: “I am delighted and excited to have been offered a position on the programme.

“This appointment will give me invaluable experience of working with senior international swimmers.

“I will also have a chance to work with high-performance coaches and support staff at a multi-sport Games.

“I am looking forward to being part of Team England and being able to share my experiences on my return with the swimmers, other female coaches and in my work next season as a coach advisor.”

The appointment of Booth, and her recent attendance in 2017 at the youth Commonwealth Games, is bringing new opportunities and raising the standards of training at Oxford.

She is one of 15 coaches on the Swim England Coach 2024 programme.

It is a 14-month development opportunity for coaches working within the England Talent Pathway.

It supports the wider vision of raising the quality of coaching in the country to ensure swimmers are supported to reach their full potential.
