OXFORDSHIRE junior players picked up six medals when competing in a tournament at Hoensbroek, Netherlands between Christmas and New Year.

The annual event attracts players from all over Europe, but the Oxon youngsters stamped their mark on it coming away with three golds, a silver and two bronzes.

Alex Cook, playing in his final under 19 tournament, won the men’s doubles alongside James Youle, from Yorkshire.

Former England junior Cook also collected a silver medal in the men’s singles and a bronze in the mixed doubles.

In the under 15 event, national champion Ethan Rose won the boys’ singles with a straight sets win over his Belgian opponent.

Rose also won the mixed doubles with former Oxon player Eleanor Butler (Bucks) and took a bronze in the boys’ doubles with Joseph Ball (Warwickshire).
