TOM Baughan was the star with a 30-plus average as Oxfordshire hung on to beat hosts Surrey 21-15 in the BDO Inter-Counties Championship.

Oxon, with a commanding 16-8 lead going into the Men’s A team match on Sunday, saw their lead cut to three points, before rallying to a victory which puts them second in Division 1 going into the New Year.

Baughan’s superb average of 30.74 gave the men’s A team a great start, but they lost the next four legs before Jon Jukes took them to within a point of victory.

It was not until the ninth game that the visitors got over the line thanks to Lee Russell.

On the first day, debutant Suzanne Smith led Oxon Women’s B to a 4-2 success, while the Men’s B triumphed 7-5 to give them a lead of 11-7.

Oxon Women’s A romped home 5-1 on Sunday.

But the visitors had a few anxious moments before securing their victory.
