OXFORD Hawks continued their fine run of form with a commanding 6-2 victory at home to London Wayfarers to remain top of South League Premier One.

The hosts took control with two goals in the first 11 minutes from Tom Godding and Matt Wood.

Andy Watts made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time with a trademark quality finish.

Wayfarers struck back early after the break with a penalty corner conversion, only for Jack Biggs to do the same for Hawks.

Three further goals followed in the space of three minutes.

There was one for the visitors, while Hawks netted through Will Heywood and Wood’s second to seal the victory.

Oxford lost top spot in Regional 1 when going down 2-1 at home to PHC Chiswick, after a below-par second-half display.

Playing fast flowing hockey, Oxford took a deserved interval lead through Hector Page.

But the hosts paid the price for not taking chances when on top, and two defensive errors in the second half cost them in a game they dominated for long periods.

Two goals from Liam Frost gave Witney a 2-1 victory away to Tring, which keeps them second in Regional 2, two points behind leaders Reading 3rd with a game in hand.

Frost netted from a difficult angle to give Witney the lead just before half-time.

In the second half, Frost scored the second after a shot had rebounded off a post.

Tring pulled back a goal just before the final whistle.
