OXFORD Hawks Ladies had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to bottom club Bath Buccaneers in their last Investec Western Conference game before the winter break.

When the teams met in Somerset three weeks ago, Hawks triumphed 2-1.

And they looked like completing the double over the West Country side, when they took the lead in the first half.

Hayley Sawyer and Lucy Stewart interlinked well to put pressure on the Bath defence and Becky Odlin scored from the resulting short corner, which was whipped in by Henri Gordon.

Bath equalised against the run of play, when the ball was deflected in under home keeper Jess Hughes to make it 1-1.

The second half was an exciting end-to-end affair.

Hawks pushed forward with Odlin and Catherine Reaney making threatening penetrations, forcing the Bath keeper to make some excellent saves to deny Abigail Flory and Sandra Roche.

Bath managed only two shots on target in the second half, one of which forced a fantastic stick save from Hughes.

Oxford maintained their unbeaten record in Division 3A of the South Clubs League with a goalless draw at Southgate 2nd.

Olivia Strickland and Kim Warman went close for the visitors in the first half.

After the break, tireless running by Strickland and good interceptions by Bubble Baddeley, Warman and Amy Litchfield brought some openings for Oxford

Warman had a chance to win it at the death, but shot just wide.

Witney’s Division 2 match away to Hampstead 2nd was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
