WANTAGE Vale Taekwon-Do school won an impressive 31 medals – including seven golds – at the UK Championships in Guildford.

Instructor Carl Davis won gold in adult male fourth degree patterns, and a silver in under 78kg black belt adult sparring.

Gabriella Rhodes claimed two gold in junior black belt sparring plus the special technique.

Benny Stoten won the under 10 green belt sparring, while Sierra Herring won gold in junior red belt sparring and bronze in patterns.

Caleb Davidson won gold in yellow belt junior sparring and silver in special technique, with Tomas Marren claiming gold in junior green belt sparring, silver in both patterns and special technique.

Further silver medals were won by Vic Davis, Sean McIntyre, Sami Grimes, George Wells, Lilly Emptage and Ryan Woodsend, while Charlie Rhodes, Jamie Marren, Ellis Footner, Lilly Bunting and Max Rhodes took bronzes.

Davis and McIntyre helped England’s men to victory in the final Four-Nations Championship, held alongside the UK event.

Didcot’s Kirsty Miller captained the England women’s squad who also claimed victory in all three disciplines.

l CROPREDY judo coach Scott Bedding celebrated his 50th birthday party by coming out of competitive retirement to win the Irish Masters in Dublin.

Scott who has been practising the martial art for more than 40 years,on each of his four fights by a maximum score of ippon by throw or submission in his age-banded weight division to become champion.

l SISTERS from Witney claimed silvers at the International Seiwakai Karate Open competition in London.

Alysha-Paris Godfrey, 11, and Faye Godfrey, eight, came second in their respective age groups.
