WILLIAM Fletcher completed a great week for the family from Faringdon by being crowned national under 21 champion.

His success came only days after his younger brother Oliver helped Britain to success in the European Junior Championships.

Competing at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, William was one of only two clears in the first round, riding his father Graham’s Everytime Anywhere B.

On a tough course, only Fletcher and Harry Wainwright had faultless rounds.

In the jump-off, Wainwright, riding Pinheiro Beach picked up four faults. Fletcher, although jumping clear, picked up three time faults, to claim the title by just a single point.

Afterwards, Fletcher was full of praise for Everytime Anywhere B.

“He’s such a special horse and I am so lucky that I get to ride him, “ he said.

“My dad first saw him as a six year old and he’s now eight and he’s really progressing.

“I felt it was a very difficult course, so I was absolutely chuffed with how well he jumped.”
