LANCE Stroll ended his wait to get off the mark in Formula 1 by claiming ninth place at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The 18-year-old, who grew up 20 minutes away from the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, qualified 17th fastest but climbed through the field to deliver two points for the Williams team in Grove.
It contrasted with his teammate Felipe Massa, who was taken out of the race within seconds of the start by Carlos Sainz.
While Lewis Hamilton won the race, Nico Hulkenberg was the top finisher for Oxfordshire’s teams, coming home eighth for the Enstone-based Renault outfit, while Romain Grosjean was tenth for Banbury’s Haas.
