BRADLEY Smith looks set for a testing weekend at the Catalan Grand Prix after struggling in free practice yesterday.

The MotoGP rider from Forest Hill was at the bottom of the time sheets for both sessions, which took place in changing weather conditions.

Wet weather tyres were required after rain fell in Spain before the first practice.

But the track dried to allow slick tyres before the end of the session.

Smith clocked six timed laps, but was down in 19th position, almost four seconds behind Marc Marquez.

The Red Bull KTM rider improved his fastest lap by almost two seconds in the afternoon, clocking 1min 47.892secs.

But the rest of the field also made strides and Smith finished last in the 23-man field as Honda’s Marquez again set the pace on home soil.

Teammate Pol Espargaro fared little better, just ahead in 21st.

It means the Austrian factory team face an uphill battle to avoid a repeat of last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, where Smith finished at the back of the pack in 20th place.
