ANDY Benwell defied tricky conditions and a borrowed rod to win the second Ace Tackle and Bait Oxford Carp League match at Packington Somers, near Coventry.
The Benchmark angler, from Kidlington, weighed in with 43lb 4oz 0drms of carp and F1’s, caught using feeder tactics.
The next two places were also filled by Kidlington anglers. Runner-up was Matt Tuppenney with 38.0.0, closely followed by match organiser Gerry Foley with 37.7.0.
There was double delight for Tony Derrick, when 11 Yarnton & District anglers fished the second round of their Summer League at Hill View Fishery, Worminghall.
Derrick landed 20 small carp for a weight of 19.11.0, fishing pellet on the hook, and also won the golden peg.
Jamie Pancott was second on 17.11.0 with new club chairman Harry Oliver third on 10.1.0.
