CITY of Oxford are now officially the sixth strongest club in the land following a superb performance in the National Arena League A final at Cardiff.

Facing big clubs such as champions Millfield, Plymouth and Cardiff, City were thrilled to come sixth out of ten.

Head coach Amanda Booth said: “It’s a tremendous achievement and testament to the and hard work of swimmers, coaches and volunteers.”

Cheered on by more than 70 supporters, City swimmers secured four victories, two runner-up positions and and five third-place finishes.

Their first win came from Billy Wotton in the 13 & under 100m breaststroke. He teamed up with Nick Skelton, Diego Bravo and Mihailo Petrovic as City came third in the medley relay.

Their other successes came from Daniel Jenkins in the boys 15 & under 100m backstroke, David Murphy who won the men’s open 100m breaststroke in 1min 2.61 secs, and Skelton, who took the 13 & under 100m backstroke.

Skelton also received the boys age group award

Of the girls, Delphine Little came third in the 13 & under 100m freestyle and helped City’s 50m freestyle relay team of Evie Mclean, Safiya Sillah, and Megan Smit come fourth.
