JORDAN Flynn continued his encouraging form when beating Danny Quartermaine on points at the Doncaster Dome.

The 20-year-old, from Cowley, is now through to the finals weekend of the Elite Championships at York Hall, Bethnall Green, on April 21-23.

Lightweight Flynn (right), who trains at Hoddesdon ABC, Hertfordshire, thought he had qualified for the showpiece event with victory in Banbury last month.

But he was not seeded by the championships’ organisers and was forced to take on Quartermaine, of Cleary’s, Leamington Spa, in a pre-quarters bout.

Flynn did not let that faze him, though, as he went on to beat an opponent, who had already got the better of number one seed Mason Smith.

He said: “It went to plan.

“I’ve boxed him before and he is quite rough, uses his head, so I didn’t want to get any cuts.

“He came at me and I used jabs and one-twos, boxed my way round, but he is strong.

“It was good to get him out of the way.”
