WITNEY confirmed their status as champions with a convincing 3-0 victory at Bicester in the South League.

With the Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 title already in the bag, Witney recorded their 18th victory in 20 matches to go 11 points clear at the top.

Goals from Tim Chilvers, Jacob Deacon and Ryan Fitz-John sunk Bicester, who are in fourth place after an excellent season of their own.

Oxford Hawks won 5-3 at Banbury in an entertaining derby, but the result could lead to the hosts being relegated from South League Premier Division 1.

Hawks took the early initiative, Ted Bennett opening the scoring after five minutes, but Banbury soon hit back through George Brooker

The visitors switched to a back four and immediately looked more stable at the back, while up front they added further first-half goals from Matt Wood and Toby Blong.

Hawks looked the more threatening side in the second half and extended their lead to 5-1 with a Jack Biggs penalty corner and then through Dan Rhodes’s superb back-hand shot.

Injuries and yellow cards disrupted Hawks rhythm in the final ten minutes and Banbury scored two late consolation goals through Brooker and Josh Nunneley – one from a dubious penalty.

Hawks now lie third, while Banbury increasingly look like they might have to rely on the outcome of leagues above them to avoid the drop.

A serious mouth injury to Oxford Hawks 2nd player Dom Bennett marred their 2-0 victory at home to Oxford in Regional Division 1.

Hawks’ goals came from Dan Bradley and Jack Knight.

Oxford had claims for two penalty strokes turned down.
