ASHLEY Presley rewrote the history books when he produced the first nine-darter in the Headington & District League.

Presley achieved his amazing feat while playing for Blackbird Leys Bowls Club away to the Cricketers Arms, Cowley.

The 20-year-old, a member of the Oxfordshire youth team, could scarcely believe it when he hit the double 12 for his 141 check-out following two 180s.

“All I could do was stretch my arms out wide in celebration, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic does after scoring for Man United,” said Presley, who won his match against the Cricketers’ Chris Souch 3-0 in his side’s overall success.

It is believed to be only the third nine-darter in Oxfordshire.

The first was achieved by Nigel Hodge, for the Three Horseshoes, Old Marston, in the ODDA in 2003.

There was also one occurrence in the Oxfordshire Super League by Wolvercote’s Dick Foster in 2002.

Presley revealed he nearly repeated the feat the following night while playing for West Oxford Democrats in the ODDA.

“But I missed the double 12 that time,” he rued.

At least he has achieved something of which most darts players would only dream about.

Presley was in the Oxfordshire youth team who had a 9-7 victory away to Bucks thanks to a dominant display from their under 18s.

Oxon Under 18s sped them to a 7-1 lead.

Kyle Meadows started things off with a 3-0 win (average 15.82), before debutant Jayden Proffitt came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Man-of-the-match Lennon Cradock triumphed 3-0 with average 16.34, while Oxon’s other wins came from Conner Wyatt, Sam Payne and Sean Ashburner.

There was a second successive 3-0 defeat for Oxon’s girls.

Going into the Under 21 contest with a 7-4 lead, Oxon were given a good start by skipper Robert Adnams, who won 3-1 with an average of 22.10.

Dan Kirton sealed the overall success with a 3-0 victory and man-of-the-match average of 22.10.

Presley lost his match as the visitors were beaten in their last three games.
