CITY of Oxford claimed two major trophies with a successful display at the Cardiff Invitational Meet.

The club retained the coveted ‘Dave Heller Cup’ for the relays and were named ‘top visiting club’ out of a field of nine at the Cardiff International Pool.

The relay cup was presented by 50m backstroke world-record holder and Olympian, Liam Tancock.

The Bagley sisters, Ellen, 11, and Jessica, nine, both achieved pbs and medals for City.

Gold medallists included eight-year-olds Zofia Conway and Tristan Dennis, who were among their youngest swimmers to shine with a haul of 12 medals in their first gala in a long course pool.

Conway’s gold came in the 50m butterfly

In the 11-year-old category, Ellen Bagley stormed to gold in 200m individual medley, while Lily Brabbin did likewise in the 100m butterfly.

For the 12-year girls, Ellen Tranter won gold in the 50m backstroke, while in the 13-year-old class, Emma Jowett claimed the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle titles, while Anna Hens took gold in the 100m breaststroke.

The boys added to Oxford’s medal tally.

Ten-year-old Matthew Critchley triumphed in the 50m freestyle, and Thomas Johnson, 11, won the 50m breaststroke.

For the 12-year-olds, Jack Rudd powered to gold in the100m backstroke, Charles Pauling bagged victories in the 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly, and James Brooks won the 50m backstroke.

Diego Bravo, 13, took golds in the 100m breaststroke and 50m backstroke, while Stan Pritchard triumphed in the 100m backstroke.
