OXFORD United secured a sixth straight victory over arch-rivals Swindon Town when the two sides renewed hostilities in Sky Bet League One.

A sold-out Kassam Stadium crowd saw the U’s extend their winning run over the Robins, which stretched back to 2002, with a comfortable 2-0 success.

Chris Maguire netted both goals, despatching a penalty late in the first half before charging down Swindon keeper Lawrence Vigoroux’s attempted clearance for the second to send the home fans delirious.

There was also derby delight for Chinnor RFC, who won at Henley Hawks for the first time in a league game, finally laying to rest a 52-year-old hoodoo.

Oxford Saints American Football team completed a perfect season as they lifted the Southern Conference Division 2 title with victory over Cambridgeshire Cats in the final.

Saints won every match of the campaign.

Jade O’Dowda and Tim Stephens celebrated the biggest victories in their fledgling careers.

The in-form Oxford City duo collected a pair of gold medals at the ESAA English Schools’ 29th Combined Events Championships in Exeter.

O’Dowda overtook Olympian Katarina Johnson-Thompson to claim second in the all-time British under 17 rankings after victory in the intermediate girls heptathlon.

And Stephens took gold when he triumphed in the senior boys decathlon.
