FOUR of Berinsfield ABC’s rising young stars will move up to full contact bouts after impressing at the club’s open show.

Leon Pownceby, Muhammad Ahmad, Charles Maughan and Kiel Merritt took part in non-decision skills contests.

After showing their class against Finlay Haynes (Blackbird Leys), Riley Belcher (Banbury), Kistian Kelly (Willinghall) and Isaac Walker (Farnham) they will step up to the next level.

There were also full contact bouts, with Berinsfield’s Danielle Blake fought against Mia Holland, of Priory Park, in her first contest.

Blake dominated from the opening bell, keeping her opponent under pressure.

She proved too strong for Holland and earned a well deserved unanimous decision.

Clubmate Joel Pownceby also competed in his first full contact bout and beat Priory Park’s Aaron Whatmore on a unanimous decision.

Jason Goddard, Layla Churcher and Jordan Blake also took part, but lost their fights.

But they were beaten by Harley Macpherson-Collins (Moneyfields), Lisa Dheshi (Fitzpatricks) and Jake Swift (Triumph) respectively.

There were also two support bouts, with Thames Valley’s Archie Jury and Aaron Duncan in action.

Jury beat John Connors, of Willinghall, on points, but Duncan lost to George Knibb, of Watford.

l BLACKBIRD Leys ABC’s Joe Gaul shone at Walcot ABC’s show in Swindon.

Gaul beat Nigel Harris and received the award for best visiting boxer.

His teammate, AJ Desmond overcame Alex Masters on a unanimous decision.

Desmond overpowered his opponent from the start and forced a standing eight count.

Fellow Blackbird Leys fighter Dane Simmons took on Tom Stokes, of Walcot.

He boxed cleverly to win on a unanimous decision.
