CAROLE Galletly (Banbury Central BC) won the Oxfordshire Ladies’ Champion of Champions title with a 21-10 win over Carol Gaskins (Oxford C&C) in the final at South Oxford.

In two one-sided semi-finals, Galletly beat Emma Gilkes (Watlington) 21-5, while Gaskins saw off Caroline Bloomfield (Witney Town) 21-7.

l A DOMINANT display by the rink skipped by Brian Bloomfield helped Oxfordshire’s men to victory in their annual match against Oxon's ladies at Oxford City & County,

Bloomfield’s rink won by 16 shots as the men recorded a 121-107 victory.

Oxfordshire won on five rinks and drew the other as they defeated Worcestershire 128-101 in a friendly at Chipping Norton.

It looked like being a clean sweep for Oxon, but skip Melvin Brain’s team dropped shots at the last two ends to give Worcestershire a drawn rink.

l ABINGDON BC members June Douglas, Elizabeth Sims and Rowena Twinn became the first all-ladies team to win the South Oxford Tuesday Triples League.

Playing as the Owls, the trio went into the play-offs against the other league winners, but lost by just one shot to the all-man Lakesiders team in the semi-finals.

The Lakesiders will face the Rockets in the final at South Oxford next Wednesday.
