OXFORDSHIRE’S Bradley Smith had to battle to finish 13th in a gruelling German MotoGP.
The Monster Yamaha Tech3 Team rider, from Forest Hill, had to switch to a second bike following a first-lap collision and did well to complete the race
During the opening lap, Smith, who started on the fifth row of the grid, was run into by Ducati rider Yonny Hernandez, which caused the Brit to lose his left knee-slider and therefore drop to the back of the field.
Smith eventually pitted just after halfway through the race, changing to his second bike with intermediate tyres.
The 25-year-old rode at an impressive pace, but due to the distance lost in the first part of the race, he crossed the line in 13th.
Smith said: “It was a frustrating end to the weekend because I want to be fighting for the top independent position.
“However, one positive that I had good pace on the intermediate tyres and I was one of the faster guys for a period.”
The race was won by Spaniard Marc Marquez.
