BRADLEY Smith is confident of ending a tricky first half of the MotoGP season with a place in the top six at the German Grand Prix tomorrow.

The 25-year-old, from Forest Hill, has had a tough 2016 and lies 15th in the championship with 32 points – 55 fewer than last year – after nine rounds.

Smith’s season was further compounded at a rain-soaked Dutch GP at Assen three weeks ago when he crashed from seventh place.

But the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider remains as upbeat as ever that his fortunes will change.

And he is eyeing a good result at the Sachsenring heading into the month-long summer break before the Austrian GP on August 14.

He said: “The German Grand Prix is definitely a special one, due to the location of the circuit.

“This racetrack stands alone because of its tight corners and also because we do not really open the throttle fully until the waterfall, which I must say is awesome to ride.

“Last year I managed to get sixth, and honestly, I feel that we have a solid chance of obtaining a good result again with the capabilities of the YZR-M1.”
